Giveaway – For Them For You – Fair Trade Handcrafted Toys
I was really excited when I heard about ‘For Them For You‘ because I love when people turn their compassion in to action. It is a privilege to support those who want to do good for the benefit of some of the world’s most vulnerable. This is something I am really passionate about.
So, what is ‘for them for you’ all about?
These adorable dolls known as Shwe Shwe Poppi’s are designed by children in South Africa, handcrafted by women in the community and provide a means of employment, education, pride and purpose. They are compassionate, ethical and fair trade and pretty darn cute!
The Shwe Shwe Poppis Project is a fundraising arm for the African Children’s Feeding Scheme and you can read more about the charity here.
These handcrafted toys are really unique and a little quirky and would make an excellent gift when looking for fair trade, ethical shopping alternatives.
So, I encourage you to visit the website and purchase one of these poppi’s knowing that it’s not just about getting something ‘for you’ but about supporting families in the developing world.

And….who wants to win one?
The prize is 1 MIDI Shwe Shwe Poppi similar to the one pictured.

To enter please just leave a comment about your experience or thoughts on ethical shopping and what products or things you buy or would like to buy fairtrade.
This giveaway has ended – Congratulations Hope!

I think the greatest difference to people in developing nations will come when we have the choice to buy the products that we deem ESSENTIAL (or that industry needs as a raw ingredient). Perhaps items like toilet paper, soap, toothpaste, & chocolate(!). If this could be coupled with natural or healthy options then there may be competition for our local economies too. So soap made only from lye and plant-based oil; toothpaste from salt, baking soda and glycerine – no additives. Already companies like Whittakers (NZ) use Fair Trade ingredients in their chocolate (68% in the milk chocolate bar) – another good reason to support them
I totally believe in ethical shopping and try to practise it as much as I can (although, I must admit, there are not enough stores or supermarkets that stock fair trade products). At Christmas I purchased some gifts from the Oxfam shop, and I also like to buy fair-trade coffee and chocolate from Woolworths.
Fair Trade shopping is great because you can buy such different things to what you get in the shops here. I have shopped for many many years at Oxfam (usually online), I buy lots of homewares mostly, such as bedding, candles, dishes… for myself and gifts! Thank you for the lovely giveaway, I would love to win for my daughter
xx

I love that Fair Trade products are unique! I just wish there was a bigger range of items available in Australia that are Fair Trade. I love Whittakers chocolate, and I’ve noticed the other ladies have mentioned the Oxfam shop (which I didn’t know about), so I’m off to check it out
More more MORE please!
i.e. more information, more discussion, more support of these kinds of things.
(And if I win, would you please donate to a local hospital.)
Great replies. I agree that we all need a greater awareness but also a greater range of items available to purchase.

I love the Oxfam shop, love to buy their chocolate because how can you feel guilty buying it there? :p
